Saturday saw the start of the new Manchester Camerata season of concerts.

Kicking off with a belting rendition of the Barber of Seville Overture really got the audience in the mood.  The charismatic Craig Ogden then took to the stage and wowed us with his Spanish guitar skills, with a cheeky bit of Beatles to finish off.

In order to adequately assess what’s happening to the underlying Infrastructure/Hardware during a performance test, monitoring is essential. Here at Trust IV, we decided to integrate HP’s SiteScope product into HP’s new cloud performance testing offering, StormRunner Load.

This is how I setup the Infrastructure.

Here at Trust IV, we’re always keen to practice our performance testing skills against different application platforms.  Historically we’ve been called upon to test banking, retail, CRM and even video-streaming applications; consequently, when we practice our skills, train new users or demonstrate our testing capabilities to customers, we like to use a realistic application.

In some recent performance tests of a video-streaming service for a UK university we were reminded just how important the network is for good application performance. In the days of fibre broadband, this can be easy to forget but you need to include it in your capacity planning calculations.

This year I was once again fortunate to attend the HP Discover conference in Las Vegas. As a Vivit Board member, I’m invited to these conferences for meetings with HP executives. As well as this, the Vivit face-to-face board meetings take place in the two days immediately before each conference.

We received some great news at HP Discover in Las Vegas, as it was announced that Richard Bishop had been elected at President of the Vivit Board of Directors.

We love going to NWTG events in Manchester which are a great benefit to the testing community in this area.  As a performance testing consultancy, events like this give Trust IV insights into testing fields outside our specialist skill-set.

“I don’t like cricket, I love it”. I love it even more after hearing the news that Christopher Henry Gayle will be playing T20 cricket in England this summer. To those who aren’t cricket fans, Gayle is a huge hitting opening batsman who has helped revolutionised the modern art of batting. Only a couple of weeks ago, he became the first player to score a double century in a World Cup.

Waking up in the UK today there was a palpable air of excitement as "eclipse" fever was hyped by local and national radio and TV stations. Reporters were despatched to the Faroe Islands where apparently the best views were to be had.
